The league is open to all teams, players and coaches registered with The Real AAU (www.aaubaseball.org). Once completed, head coaches will visit and
register HERE (www.AAUWeekendLeague.com) online.
Games will be scheduled based on information provided by the head coach. All head coaches will visit this site after September 12, 2011 and rate their team with a
(Gold, Silver, or Bronze) classification. They will also select preferred weekends of play (minimum 3), preferred travel distance, and if they have field availability
to host games. Based on the information provided, teams will be scheduled a doubleheader on Saturday's and a doubleheader on Sunday's. TEAMS TRAVELING THE GREATEST
DISTANCE WILL RECEIVE EARLY GAMES ON SUNDAY.
We cannot answer at this time. Registration opens September 1, 2011 and ends January 15, 2012
The purpose of this weekend league is to bring similar skill level teams together outside of thier local areas.
Your scheduled games on your elected weekends will be played within your elected distance of travel from your home location.
We have spoken to numerous head coaches throughout the region and many say there needs to be a more structured league in regards to evenly matched games. Head coaches
with the "better teams" are growing frustrated playing weak teams weekend after weekend and the weak teams are becoming frustrated going 0-3/1-2 weekend after weekend. All this
on top of large weekend fees. Therefore, with our newly designed software system, we feel confident teams will play in there respective skill division while enjoying the benefits
of choosing when and how far from home teams choose to play.
This is a two answer question:
- Teams with access to one or more fields may elect to host games on the weekends they elect to host.
- Teams without field availability may elect to play anywhere with the region based on their preferred distance of travel.
Unless your team plays in tournaments every single weekend during April, May and June, we ask each team to commit to a minimum of 3 weekends (12 game minimum).
No. The entry fee remains the same regardless of how many weekends you play.
YES. And, the top 4 teams in each age division completing an 24 game schedule will advance to the League Championship Series within the age divisions.
Absolutely Not. The Real AAU is the largest Non-Profit, volunteer, multi-sports organization in the United States dedicated to the promotion and development of amateur
sports and physical fitness programs. The Real Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) has been raising champions since 1888. "Sports For All, Forever" has been our focus and drive
for over 118 years. Today, the AAU boasts a nationwide membership of over 550,000 plus a vital body of volunteers 50,000 strong. It has expanded to encompass 57 AAU Districts
sponsoring more than 30 sports programs, over 250 national championships, and over 30,000 age division events anually.
Please refer to the question above.
The National AAU Baseball Committee has adopted the NFHS rules as the foundation to enhance and bring awareness to youth baseball players who wish to and have a goal to play
high school baseball.
Most coaches start the tryout selection process in August for the following year and we want all coaches, players, and parents to know the AAU offers a weekend regional league
as an alternative to playing in tournaments.
Many coaches from the listed states are aware of this newly formed league and have interest in participating.
